Also, it says in an email that we “may want to dress business casual for the interviews”…so obviously I will be doing that, but I’m worried about looking under/overdressed. Anyone have suggestions about what would be appropriate to wear?

CCgrl13 – My suggestions are general, rather than specific to the Syracuse interview process, but here goes:

Avoid plunging necklines and too-short hemlines. Will you feel comfortable in your outfit if you need to sit on a slightly saggy sofa? (I think dress pants are a nice option for girls.) Avoid super high shoes, or any type of shoes that are a challenge to walk in.

The boys, of course, get off easy – any kind of khaki/dockers/dress pants and a blazer or sweater or dress shirt.

(Some of the supershort black mini skirts that we saw at an interview weekend at another school last year were mind-boggling…)

Good luck! Breathe!

I’m really anxious about what they’re going to ask during the interview… is there any advice/specific suggestions you have in that regard?

treesplease – I can offer only general advice. The image you want to project is cool, calm, and collected – and polite and friendly, if you can manage it. They already know that you are extremely intelligent and hard-working and academically successful, or you wouldn’t have made it to this level. Don’t sweat any particular question or answer; do stand up straight, smile, make eye contact, and remember to breathe! (Good luck! :))

Hello Syracusemom,

I read one of your threads on the coronat scholarship. I read that your son got the coronat scholarship. Syracuse is my top university and i’m applying to CAS. And i’m thinking of applying for the coronat scholarship. So do you think you or you son have any suggestions on what i should do to the application essay and the interview? How was the interview and how should i get prepared.
