Corporate Scholars Program

Are any Mudders part of CSP? If so, how is it? I've read the benefits from http://www.hmc.edu/admin/admission/csp_instructions.pdf , but how do CSP students differ from regular HMC students? Is it like an honors program? How selective is it? What are your stats? (Sorry, it's a lot of questions)

I think this is one of the first years (if not the first year) that HMC will have the Corporate Scholars Program. I don't remember it being on the website last year. So, there probably isn't anyone who can answer your questions.

You should probably ask someone from the administration at HMC. I'd like to know about the selectivity of the program too.

the program was definitely around in time for last year's applicants (this year's frosh). it's my understanding that it kind of replaced the nova scholars program from the years before, but i dont know a whole lot about it. if i find out anything i'll let you know.

btw - i'm a sophomore at mudd right now. feel free to ask anything; i'll do my best to find answers, if i dont know already!

Ah. So it was previously known as the Nova Scholars Program, which explains why I thought it was relatively new.

radioactive

So, what do you know about the program? Its selectivity?

My D got the letter about the Corporate Scholars Program about two weeks ago unsolicited. Sounds like a great program with substantial mentoring and internship benefits. It simply states "top half" of entering class and preference to traditionally under-represented groups.

Of the two thousand people who apply annually to Harvey Mudd, six hundred apply for the corporate scholar's program, and 6-10 get selected.

Thanks Olo. Sounds like I have an absolutely terrible shot since I come from a group that's not too terribly underrepresented, but I think I'll apply anyways.

Does applying by the priority deadline (Dec1) give one that much leverage? It's not that much heads-up for the recommender...

Thanks guys for replying! =)
