@Sally_Rubenstone Thank you for your advice and the suggestions!
@Sally_Rubenstone is it possible for my daughter to apply for other colleges if her ED application does get rescinded?
@whatsgoingonn -Do you mean what happens if your daughter gets admitted by her Early Decision college and then informs this school that she’s moving down to SL Art so they then rescind her acceptance? If that’s the case, she is free to apply elsewhere once the ED school says, “Never mind.”
However, if she applied Early Decision and is accepted and if she’s still on the fence right now about whether or not to stay in HL art, then it seems as if she would want to keep her acceptance and stick with the HL Art IF the ED school insists on it (and it’s very likely that they won’t).
@Sally_Rubenstone I too would find it hard to believe that a college would rescind just because of a switch from HL to SL. Does she necessarily need to ask the college’s permission to drop down from HL to SL? How long does it usually take an admissions department to sort these kinds of problems?
If she makes up her mind and decide to switch from HL to SL in the next couple of days, would you still recommend plan B? I think you made a good point about laying low, but do officials usually get ornery when an accepted student informs them of a slight change in the schedule the next day (after they are notified of being accepted) or is that only when they find out much later on when final transcript are sent out and they notice a discrepency?
@whatsgoingonn -I can’t speak for all admission officials but I suspect that the greatest consternation would be caused when a student’s final transcript, which arrives in the summer, doesn’t match the one that came with the application.
I don’t think your daughter should commit to SL until she hears from her ED school. There’s a chance that a yes verdict could become a no if she makes an irrevocable change before then. She is better off asking the college folks if it’s okay. Of course, she could always make the change this week and then be willing to forego her acceptance if the college is displeased.
Keep in mind, however, that this is all speculation on my part. Admission offices are made up of many different individuals so it’s hard to predict exactly how any one of them will act. If your daughter does get accepted, she can call her regional rep right away to discuss her SL plan and should get the college’s opinion on it either immediately or within a day or so.
I mistakenly sent the unofficial quarter grades instead of the official final grades that appear on my transcript to the UCs. Should I let them know? The UCs don’t look for a transcript until AFTER you are admitted, so I feel like I should try and make sure they are aware.
I accidentally put 4 years of outdoor track, but meant to put 3. I applied ED, so I should hear back within the next few weeks. Should I let them know? If so, is it too late?
Hello! I have recently submitted my CSU Applications and upon submitting them I realized I let several mistakes slip by on the coursework. My school runs on a quarter system that converts into a semester system as we are only given 2 grades for each class per year. Therefore, my transcripts only show my semester grades. However, when applying, I made a mistake by inputting my quarter 1 and quarter 3 grades (irrelevant grades that only serve a purpose for me and to see where i stand during the school year) for my history course section into the Summer 1 and Summer 2 semester sections, I was only supposed to input my grades into the fall and spring semester sections. Therefore, it now seems as if I have taken 16 semesters of History instead of the 8 that I will have completed by the end of my senior year. In addition to this, I have put the same history class down twice for junior and senior year. For both, I have put History IB HL1. For my senior year I was supposed to have put History IB HL2. Lastly, I accidentally put that my physics class was an IB class when it is not. Are these fixable? If not, how will these mistakes affect my chances of getting accepted? I do not know how I let these slip by after reviewing my application for what seemed as a million times. I am really worried as these are my safety schools.
Hey! I wrote the amount of hours wrong too for my activity too. I wrote two instead of 20 hours a week. I sent an email to the admissions office already but they never replied so idk if they changed it. My counselor told me to not email them again. Do you think I should just leave it?
@chansu99 -Yep, I recommend correcting this error. When it comes to transcripts, you want to make sure that colleges get completely accurate information.
@sekr77- It depends on WHICH 4 years of track you did. If you started track in 10th grade and are still doing it, then leave the error alone. But if your application implies that you’re involved as a senior and you actually aren’t, then you should tell your college. It’s not a big deal but you don’t want to mislead the college into thinking they’re getting a current runner, if they’re not. Granted, if you’re good enough to matter to the track coach, then s/he probably already knows about you. But, even so, I suggest correcting the application if you’re not doing track as a senior.
@JCorrea -As I noted in post #469 above, don’t mess with transcript mistakes. Send emails to your colleges to correct your errors. Ideally, of course, you would have gotten all of this right the first time, but making these mistakes–and then sending a correction–isn’t going to ultimately affect your admission outcomes.
@collegebound34132 -I agree with your counselor. It’s highly likely that your mistake was duly noted in the admission office. But these folks are super busy right now. It’s annoying enough that they have to stop and correct a gazillion errors, so you can’t expect them to write back to every student who sent a correction to say, “Got it!” Sure, it would be great to have your correction acknowledged. But, just because it wasn’t, it doesn’t mean it didn’t arrive safely. Definitely leave this be.
Thank you for your response! I contacted their admissions office and they stated that it would be completely fine to simply send an email with the correct information.
Thank you very much for the help!
Thank you!
You’re all very welcome.
Hi,
I submitted my UC application two days ago and just realized that I forgot to add classes that I took which includes Health and PE in 9th grade and Independent Lifetime Sports (ILS, PE substitute) for 10th grade. Health was a semester class and put two As in the other semester class instead of having Health take up one semester with its own individual grade. I also received a grade for ILS too. I got As in all of these classes.
What should I do? If I do get accepted into any of the UCs I applied to (Cal, LA, Davis, SD), will I get rescinded?
I also submitted my common app early decision and forgot a verb in a sentence in which without it, the sentence would make no sense at all. I said something like “…wouldn’t during my…” instead of “wouldn’t bother me during”. I understand that this looks bad and I am freaking out about it because my this is my dream school but how much would this missing word (among other small mistakes, I am not a good writer) hurt me in the selection process?
Thanks in advance.
@dandan131313 -You won’t get rescinded for these oversights but it would still be appropriate to email your colleges to correct the errors.
As for the missing verb … NO!!! Leave it alone. This won’t hurt you in the selection process but calling attention to it could potentially annoy the busy (and tired) admission folks.
Hi! Apologies if this has been answered before.
I’m a transfer student that applied to CSUs. At the time of application, in the future planned courses section, I included a class that I planned to take in Spring 2017 (general chem I). My CC’s schedule of classes came out after the fact and that class is actually not available. Should I contact the admissions office to remove it? It’s not a required class for transfer, it’s just a class that was on the articulation agreement on assist.org.
Also - is updating GPA ever a thing? My GPA will be higher at the end of this semester. I just feel like I’m in a very iffy spot with admissions GPA-wise.
Thank you!!
