Correlation Between Application Date and Acceptance?

I was just wondering if those who are receiving GSP letters already applied much earlier than the January 15th deadline. I applied late December and really want to get into the GSP program (or CAS) and was hoping that those receiving GSP letters were people who applied back in October or November!

Thanks!

it also depends on your school (transcript and such). I don't think my school sent my stuff 'til 1/15, along with the other kids in my class

I sent my application in during the last week of October and got my GSP letter last week.

^^ hmmm, but isn't that then applying for early admission? why did you get your letter so late?

I applied for regular admission, I just sent my application out really early. :)

what was the point of that? you should have just applied ED.

Well I wanted to apply to other schools than NYU so I didn't ED. Also I had all the parts to my application completed by then, it would have been stupid to hold on to the application and send it in later when I had everything ready to go. In addition, its generally smarter to get your stuff in earlier before the admissions office gets bombarded with the rest of the RD apps, this way you can have a chance to check if your application is complete before the deadline of the admissions cycle. Just my opinion.

I got GSP last week and I sent in my NYU app about a week early. Around 1/7ish.

Good luck.

I know the NYU website said the "first round of GSP" went out, what starting 9 days ago? And it seems that those took a few days to disperse across the
country. ANy subsequent rounds...anybody heard today or yesterday? That NYU board was the source of all kinds of misinformation for us waiting for ED (most likely not intentional) and drove us crazy with speculation and contradiction...I am curious about this whole "several rounds of GSP" thing. I bet there's the early round (that passed) and they'll be just one more a couple weeks before RD. Is there a history of kids getting GSP letters thoughout the month proceediong RD acceptance letters? DOn't want to read through the "RD to GSP" thread started in 2005...

Once again, NO accepts for ANY program have gone out as yet. Some GSP referral letters have gone out - but not all. Students who reply to the GSP selection letter will receive an offer of admission to GSP on or about April 1, the same date all other students will receive their accept letters. A big batch of GSP referrals went out today; another will go out next week.

The board adminstrator (and editor(s) from the Admissions Office) specifically said those are GSP referrals, not acceptances. That means they still have to go through a admissions committee to determine acceptance into the program.

I have a link to the NYU forum post in the thread, "RD to GSP".

jadoreapples, wow, i applied like maybe the second week of december.
god, i hate the wait.

I submitted my app on the 14th of January and got my GSP letter on Monday, so I don't think it has anything to with it. I submitted me SAT scores, letters of recommendation, etc. a few weeks earlier, but I didn't submit the application or supplement until the night before the deadline.

This isn't for GSP specifically, but I sent out my app the last day it was due and got the letter the first weekend of April. I'm pretty sure the letters are all sent out in one big batch together, so I don't think your application date will make a difference in terms of that (though earlier probably does help for actually getting in)
