Correlation between attending Summer Scholars while in HS and later being admitted to UHP or UASP?

S18 received an email from Miami touting its Summer Scholars Program for HS juniors and seniors. The email says: “Participants who later choose to apply to Miami will also receive priority consideration for Miami merit scholarships and the University’s premier academic programs — the University Honors Program and the University Academic Scholars Program.” Does anyone know if there actually is any correlation between having attended Summer Scholars and being admitted to UHP or UASP? In other words, to those of you who have been admitted to Miami’s UHP or UASP, did you attend Summer Scholars when you were in HS? And, conversely, to those of you who may have attended Summer Scholars while you were in HS, were you subsequently accepted into Miami’s UHP or UASP?

My son did attend Summer Scholars and was not admitted to either the Honors Program or UASP. However, he loved the program and it gave him a really good sense of the campus and he was awarded a nice scholarship, so I do think it was worth it.

My daughter was admitted to both UHP and UASP (which is uncommon), and did not attend Summer Scholars. She didn’t visit or express interest until this spring. There is definitely a correlation between participation in Summer scholars (& any other HS programs) and increased merit aid.

My D was admitted to both UHP and UASP. She did not attend Summer Scholars, but she did express considerable interest in the school and programs by meeting with with professors and advisors several times before applying. She also attended the Miami Bridges program (she is not a minority.)

My son made two visits. Visited with professors in his majors. Applied to Summer Scholars, was admitted, but did not attend because he went to University of Notre Dame Summer Scholars instead. ACT 33 4.5 GPA. Was denied honors. Not sure if any correlation because he did not attend. Miami was his #1 choice, but was admitted into all other honors programs but Miami. Is on a waitlist to be reconsidered after RD. Was an EA applicant.
