I've pretty much made up my mind on CIW, but I'm torn between choosing the corridor style or the suites.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think you get to choose the style of room (ie, corridor or suite) in CIW. You only get to pick the residential college. Once you pick CIW, the final room assignment and style is out of your hands.

Thanks for the reply.

I didn’t consider that, and honestly, im not completely sure either way.

but, if what your saying is correct, that does make my life a bit easier by taking the guess work out of it.

I guess I will find out tomorrow when the dorm website becomes available.

What are the benefits of suite vs. corridor style? Is it just because you have that common area to share with people that makes suite better?

an advantage of suite vs. corridor also used to be that suite had more private bathrooms – one or two shared just among the suitemates. but at least with the corridors in new Newing that is no longer the case since double rooms are grouped to share bathrooms. in CIW and Dickinson corridors still share communal bathrooms.

For the record, you cannot pick a suite or corridor room as a freshman signing up for housing. ResLife will place you where ever there is a space (assuming you get CIW) which may be in a suite, but will most likely be in a corridor room. Suites are hard to get in CIW because there is a limited number per floor.

I’ve lived for two years in CIW corridor rooms and next year I will be living in a CIW six person suite. The corridor rooms are spacious and you do get the benefit of having a floor of other corridor rooms to socialize with. The bathrooms are decent (I’ve never run into too much trouble getting the shower in the morning).

The benefits of the suite are the common rooms which give the members of the suite an area to have guests in without needing to worry about seating or bothering sleeping roommates.

Thanks for the info. I went ahead and put newing first which doesn’t have suites but am considering changing to mountainview for the suite.

Im a current soph living in New Newing, and I just wanted to let you know that the whole “semi-private bathroom” thing (where you share shower & sink and toilet & sink) with 2 other rooms is the greatest. Last year, we had a hall bathroom, and it sucked having to walk all the way down the hallway with your shower stuff/toiletries. But now I just walk right outside my door, and i’m there! I would highly recommend newing.

Thanks everyone for the reply’s!

I filled out the form today and you cant pick out the style of dorm you get.

I really liked the feel of CIW so i put my order like this.
