899 applicants! UGH!!!

I bet all the admissions people at COSMOS are watching us on this forum ENJOYING OUR PAIN. >:(

Well, if I get rejected from COSMOS, I won’t be completely heartbroken. I least I have a backup plan. :)

oh my god. I don’t think time has ever passed this slowly. -.-

@archaic I applied to UCD Chemistry of Life cluster (only one… sigh).
What cluster did you attend last year?

@bbcarlene That has also happened to previous users on this thread (the two worms).

@archaic what campus did you attend? (:

I was in Statistics & Oceanography at UC Santa Cruz. I think last year was only the first or second year that they had that cluster; they don’t have it this year anymore.

If anyone wants to know more about any of the clusters at UCSC, or about anything really (I know at least one person who has gone to each campus before) feel free to ask! :)

@archaic
I applied to UCSD’s Tissue Regeneration cluster. Since it is a new cluster this year, I am still extremely worried about how competitive it is. I hope there was not a swarm of people who applied for it :(

@archaic I’ve asked this question to one other COSMOS alumnus on this post, but other opinions would be good as well. What’s a typical day like at COSMOS? And what do you guys do in your free time? :]

@MomentumA7 Tissue regeneration? What’s that about? It sounds cool.

@archaic: If you don’t also mind me adding a couple questions, when did you guys start working on your final projects, how was your prompt chosen, and how did it all turn out? haha Thanks in advance!

@archaic
Was your final project based on new research that you did in your cluster? (Are the final projects at COSMOS research projects?)

@archaic Can you write about your final research project on your college apps? More questions, sorry. Thanks in advance though! :]

Before my status used to say Status: Not Assigned. Now, it is saying Under Review. Does anyone know what that means? Also, has UCI posted how many people have applied? I applied for the Chemistry cluster. I hope I get in. If not, may be I’ll do research. I can’t wait till May 1.

I’m pretty sure everyone’s days under review right now.

Sent from my Desire HD using CC

@swimmergirl Yes, the status has been changed since the beginning of April. If you want to know how competitive your cluster has been in the past, look in the previous pages of this thread and there’s a lot of numbers from past years. :]

8th grader applying to UCD Biomed…Aren’t I hopeless…

In the meantime, does anyone know if the other campus will follow UC Davis and post their application stats?

@MomentumA7, cosmogony: There should be a separate thread just for results. It will be easier for future applicants to look at and get an idea of where they stand. :]

@swimmergirl16 I’m sorry to say that I don’t think they will. In past years I’ve observed that none of the campuses really have while decisions are being made but this year, UCD just wanted to point out their record number of applicants (and I strongly suspect they’re trying to drain us of hope). D:

@missiris In that case, I don’t see the harm in starting a new thread once the time comes. It would have to be once admissions results actually start coming in. (Likely the person that starts a new thread will not have applied to UCD because with 899 applicants, it’s safe to say UCD don’t won’t be the first to send results lol)
