COSMOS 2013 Waiting

you guys are all making me nervous :l

hi guys i’m new, but
@iyabaldeo, @awsciencegeek @shimmeringaway @cantankerous
i was also rejected from uc irvine… i applied for tissues and tumor for first, and biomed for second. i kind of expected it, but i was surprised that irvine rejected so many… i think it’s that whole “irvine is unpopular so let’s apply for it” thing.

@Pamphilos and @CollegiateDreams:
I got waitlisted for EPGY. What about you guys?

@fatchickenlegs, if that was the reason, that sucks. Coz I applied to Irvine coz I really wanna be in tumor biology. sigh

@awsciencegeek I’m curious as to how you got into Young Scholars and coh and not COSMOS Irvine.

Did any Sophomore get into UCI? 1 more day…good luck everyone!

And, congratulations to everyone who got in

hey guys! like senpaidesu i also did COSMOS last year (at UCSC though) and it was definitely the best month of my life. if you have any questions, feel free to ask!

congrats to those who already got in and good luck to everyone who is still waiting on results! for those who got rejected and aren’t seniors, seriously, apply again next year. I didn’t get accepted my first time either, and almost didn’t reapply but I would have regretted it so much if I hadn’t.

dragonslayerx: I was wait listed for EPGY too… :(

@Mikaaa what cluster were you in last summer at UCSC?

@CollegiateDreams: ahhhh…yeah i guess its still better than a rejection lol. i wasn’t even expecting waitlist but we’ll see how this goes. Oh, and 2 more days till COSMOS decisions so let’s hope for the best! :)

@Mbr131 I was in Cluster 5, video game design! it was a really really great cluster and course. :D

also, if anyone’s curious, here are some stats for UCSC from last year: [rVjiu | image](http://img42.com/rVjiu)

Where did you get those stats from? I’ve been looking for some and I couldn’t find any

thanks for sharing stats from UCSC. I believe this year they got 600 applications, so even more competitive.

oh wow, 600 :open_mouth: yeah, these things seem to be getting more and more competitive…

They shared these stats with us in their weekly newsletter to update parents on what we’re doing haha. It probably isn’t released to the public.

Now I’m nervous, 600 applicants? Yikes :confused: and oh that makes sense haha

Don’t worry, it also depends on which cluster you applied to though! The video game cluster is one of the more popular ones, but the professors last year wanted to open it up to more people so they managed to have a cluster of 26 students. There was also one cluster that had only like 16 students iirc (it was one of the chem ones), so it varies!

I applied to cluster 3 and 8 which had to do with marine organisms, do you know if those were really popular?

Hmmm…Mikaaa, by any chance do you have UCSD’s stats?

Oh yeah one of the marine biology clusters was actually the most popular actually, fff @___@ don’t quite remember which one though. I’m sure you’ll do fine anyways!

@dragonslayerx No, unfortunately not, I only have UCSC’s because I went there :frowning: Maybe try asking a past UCSD alumni? Not sure if they even release stats though, each location seems to do things pretty differently.

I also did not get into UCI :frowning: i was sort of expecting it though.
anyways congrats to those who got in! i applied to cluster 4 and 6.
