Im currently a sophomore and I really want to get into the Genomics program or the Tissue Modeling at UC Irvine.
GPA unweighted: 3.8
Weighted: 4.16
Im an intern at a local lagoon. Im working on a project to see correlation between plant growth and compost age. (Measure things like element content, aeration, etc.)
Im currently taking AP Biology and precalculus. I think my teachers would give ok reccomendations.
I am also going to do work in a lab with a professor in east bay.
How competitive is Irvine and so you think I have a good chance of making it?

I’m a sophomore applying for Cluster 3 and 6 in UC Davis.

Asian Male, CA

My Stats:
Soph. year uw GPA: 4.29
w GPA: 4.0
APs: Calculus AB and World Hsitory
ECs: School Site Council ( Class Rep.)
Math Club Member for 2 years
Volunteered as a Math tutor for 2 years
Marching Band/Band - 1st Alto Saxophonist/ Section Leader
Track and Field - JV Captain last year.

Do I stand a chance? I don’t want to get my hopes up for nothing :C

Oh by the way, do sports and band count as “academic activities?” It seems like a lot of the former applicants put them on their applications.

Does the online application work for you guys? It says the application is closed for me.

Trying to choose between clusters 6 and 8 at UCI. Anyone attended? Any feedback?

Well, all I know is that cluster 6 at UCI is definitely the most competitive, so you have a smaller chance of getting in. I know this because I emailed them and asked them.

is computer programming competitive among all the cosmos clusters?

Where do you put sport on application?

extracuricular activities.

But it is not academic.

@seal16 I don’t think you would put it at all, since it’s a academic program. But if you are like captain of a varsity sport or something, you should probably make it known somewhere. Maybe where they ask if there’s anything else the admission people should know about you.
@Kitties At which campus?

@dsi411 the UCI one

Hey guys, I went to COSMOS at UCI last year in the chemistry cluster feel free to ask me any questions.

Do you mind to share your stats?

UW: 3.83 GPA / 4.2 W
3 Honors/ 2 APs 10-11th grade
Pretty insignificant ECs
Decent Teacher Recs
I think my essay was good

I think everyone should tell their stats and whether they think they’ll get in or not. Here’s mine:
GPA: 4.0 UW/4.17 W
9th grade
CA resident
One AP so far, advanced math in middle school
My teacher recs are probably not that good since the teachers don’t know me very well
Only EC I put down was MATHCOUNTS in middle school
URM, if that’ll help at all
Good “what do you like about math and science” essay, bad cluster essays

I don’t think I’ll get in because I’m a 9th grader and I don’t have any super awesome science extracurriculars.

Anyone???

What is the definition of advanced math in middle school?

@Kitties At my school, you were either in regular math or advanced math. At my middle school, advanced was Algebra 1 in 7th grade and Geometry in 8th grade. So that is what I put on my application. It varies depending on what middle school you went to.

@dsi411 ohhh okkk thank you!

For UCSC COSMOS, what address do we send our transcripts to?
