Hi guys, I know lots of you are applying to the COSMOS program and I was wondering what my chances of getting are.

First Choice: Biomedical Sciences
Second Choice: Chemistry of Life

GPA: 4.0 Unweighted 4.05 Weighted
I’m a sophomore. I have only taken one AP because my school gives lowest priority to 10th graders and 9th graders aren’t allowed to take AP courses.

I’m currently taking AP World History, Chemistry (no Honors/AP at my school, required for AP BIO), Precalculus, Honors English 10, Spanish 3. I have two more class but they are band and life fitness so…

I’m torn over my extracurriculars because I don’t know which are “academic” so please tell me which ones I should put on the application.
-Model UN
-SCRUBS Club (pre-med club)
-Science Olympiad (I’ve placed personally at regionals for the last 3 years)
-Biology Olympiad club(founding member)
-Chemistry Olympiad club (founding member)
-Interact
-Boy Scouts
-Marching Band/Clarinet
-Library Teen Council

I don’t have strong bonds with my teachers so I’m expecting mediocre recommendations but I’m fairly confident in my writing ability so the essays should be great. If anyone has advice for the 50 word optional essay or which extracurriculars I should list, it would be greatly appreciated.

I’m confused about the “academic” extracurriculars too… does it mean that if they’re not language or stem related they don’t count? What about art, music, athletics .-.

@kinryu My friend got into COSMOS (not sure which school, it was something about video games) in 2014 and she put down volleyball and other non-academic activities as extracurriculars.

What did you guys apply for? Mine were:
1 - Biomedical Sciences
2 - Computers in Biophysics and Robotics

Sorry, i forgot about this post.
I applied for Biomedical and Chem of Life. I probably won’t get in to either cause they are most competitive according to other threads.

On the Cosmos interface, all tabs have disappeared except for the Instruction tab. I used to be able to see the status of my app but that tab is gone. Anyone else in a similar situation?
