Anyone accepted to UCSC clusters 3 or 7?
UCSC cluster 7 @cookiedoughlover
I still haven’t gotten an email, and my portal hasn’t been updated yet. However, it shows the tuition in bold red letters where it says program payments. What does this mean?
@AFlyingKiwi I think its a glitch, it showed me that too for a while but later went away. I haven’t received any updates on status either.
@Scienceisaparty that’s my first choice. Maybe I’ll see you there if I get off the waitlist.
I think I got rejected because I was over qualified.
@afatperson Can you post your stats? And what location/cluster did you apply for?
Anyone going to UCI Cluster 2?
ayyy got in! cluster 8 ucsd
Did anyone get into the biophysics cluster at UCD?
stats (bc i literally have no STEM extracurriculars and want to give ppl in the same position i was in some hope…bc i was totally iffy abt applying):
GPA: 4.3 W (lowkey our school deflates it)
EC: debate, mock trial, mun, nhs, volunteering at a hospital (it’s an internship)
I got a teacher rec from my AP Physics teacher ( i didn’t rly know her that well during the application process but i think she wrote a decent rec letter)
and im a female junior
i think what carried me through was my grade level and my essays (which were passionate and humanized me bc they were narratives) as well as the personal statement (i think my LACK of stem ec’s made me stand out tbh but i do admit, i did connect debate to science really well)
so yea! I totally didn’t wanna apply to this bc i thought i was gonna get straight up rejected (especially from a cluster about medicine) but hey like i hope this gives next year’s applicants in the same position some hope!
ditto to what @candywinner01 said… and @afatperson , I’m really sorry you didn’t get in, and honestly I don’t doubt that you were over qualified. From what I’ve heard and experienced from applying and getting in, I have really good grades and I’m a sophomore in AP bio, but other than that I don’t have much going for me in that department. I think what got me in were really conveying passion in my essays (I spent a really long time on them…) and I had a really good teacher rec.
I got into UCSC cluster 7 as well @cookiedoughlover
is anyone planning to drop their UCSC cluster 7, i was waitlisted
Anyone else going to UCI Cluster 8?
UCD chemistry of life (cluster 8)
@cookie7 can you post your stats? I was rejected from that one.
@jigglygoo sure!
sophomore
GPA: 4.17 (ik it’s not very high)
ec: HOSA, peer tutor
I think what really helped me get in was my cluster essay and my personal statement of interest; my passion for science is pretty evident and i connected my personal life experiences to the research we’ll do in the cluster (renewable energy)
my rec was also from my ap chemistry teacher; don’t know if that helped bc it was just a form this year but he really likes me
i hope that gives ppl applying next year hope! i was really doubtful going into this application because i’ve heard about how hard it is to get in and my ecs and gpa aren’t particularly outstanding unlike most people on this thread. just remember that essays are probably the most important part of your application
Does anyone know how many people applied and how many people were accepted into each cluster in total?
