COSMOS 2019

@fluffypanda901 really? my bad i thought it was older bc more people know about it haha im new to COSMOS too

Anyone who attended COSMOS know how selective the video game design cluster at UCSC is? Iā€™ve always been a huge gamer so this cluster appealed to me, especially since Iā€™m interested in CS, but not sure if I should apply to a less competitive cluster. Iā€™m a current HS Junior with a 35 ACT and a 3.9 GPA if that helps

Is there a way to find out which clusters are new ones this year? Any kept a list of old clusters?

For the 2 cluster options, can we pick one cluster in different locations or have to be 2 clusters in one locations?

Iā€™m pretty sure it has to be in one location

Hi, I went to COSMOS at UCSD last year, and I can answer any questions u guys have. The overall acceptance rate for UCSD was 25%, and many UCSD professorā€™s kids were actually denied. Also, acceptance rate does vary by cluster, as many of the first-choice-only clusters are more competitive

do you know how competitive the robotics cluster at ucsd was ?

@awesomeprick it has to be from the same location

@WhyamIhere123 the game design cluster was the most competitive for 1st choice

@DD2019 i actually attended that cluster lol. its pretty competitive. i would say everyone was one of the top students in their class and everyone had extracurricularā€™s relating to robotics

Does anyone know the general questions asked for teachers for recommendations? Thank you in advance.

hi everyone! iā€™m a sophomore and iā€™m super interested in attending the bio related clusters at UCI. i donā€™t have science related ECā€™s, but do have dance, student council, robotics, and volunteering. my uw gpa is a 4.0, and iā€™m taking honors classes this year. if i write a decent essay and have good teacher recs, what are my chances of being accepted?

does anybody know how competitive ucd mathematics / mathematical modelling of biological systems is? i heard ucd was the most competitive campus but does that mostly just apply to the bio clusters? im also thinking about applying to ucsc number theory and discrete math / waves: physics of sound and astrophysics of light, does anybody know how competitive those clusters are? both of the math clusters at ucd and uscs are first choice only - does this mean that its more competitive than other clusters?

@asjfjspajofsajps how can you tell which clusters are first-choice-only? It just looks like we can select any cluster as 2nd choice.

@1student3 lol im in pretty much the same situation as you, except im applying to cluster 9 at UCI (hopefully itā€™s less competitive but im actually interested in it so thatā€™s good). everyone says that the essays are the most important since everyone is generally well-rounded and has a good GPA, extracurriculars, etc. so your ps / cluster essays are what make you stand out. and i think last year someone said they didnā€™t have any bio ECā€™s but they got into a bio cluster thru their essay so you have a chance

Hey everyone, so below are my stats:
freshmen
most likely 4.0 GPA
Alg2/Trig
Biology
Intro to Comp Prog
Varsity Cross Country
Piano
FBLA
Neuroscience Club
Literary Magazine
How likely is it that I can get in?

@sharksrcool i think that since you are a freshman, itā€™ll already be difficult to get in, but def still try! what cluster are you planning to apply to?

What activities are you guys using for the academic activities section?

Also, does anyone know about the selectivity of the music and technology cluster at UCSD

Does anyone know what is asked to teachers in recommendations? Or are they just asked to write a letter of recommendation? Thank you in advance.
