Cosmos at UC Davis 2011

I'm going to be applying to the Introduction to Astrophysics cluster, and wanted know exactly how selective it is.

I'm a high school freshman with a 4.0 weighted GPA and a 3.6 unweighted.
I'm currently in pre-calc and Biology
I'm president of the art club?

Assuming my teacher recommendations and essay are halfway-decent... Do I stand a chance?

https://cosmos-app.ucdavis.edu/

Considering only 29 people applied to Intro to Astrophysics last year, they probably accepted everyone.

Cool! I am applying to the Chemistry cluster in UCD. I am a sophomore in Multivariable Calculus and Organic Chemistry, so I am a big fan of math and sciences. I have a 3.9 unweighted GPA.

@goothebear - you should try for biotechnology or biomedical sciences - you have very competitive stats. Getting into a more competitive cluster is more beneficial come college applications.

But the thing is, I am very very inexperienced with Biology. I am very well versed in Chemistry and I am fairly good at Physics, but I have not done any bio in school besides introductory classes. I am also an international, non-Californian who has not taken any STAR tests, so I don’t know if I will get in.

International = $$$ for them. It’s not a disadvantage.

I am a Californian and I did not take the STAR test (I went there in 09).

You don’t have to be experienced in biology. Just math & science. I’m sure you know by now that biology and chemistry are very interrelated.

You can always pick the chemistry cluster as your “second choice”, if you do not get into your first choice.

Does anybody know how difficult it is to get into Biomedical Sciences?

I am a freshman with a 4.33 gpa, 3 honors classes (including honors geometry).
I haven’t really done many EC’s that deal with math/science. However, I study piano under a teacher from the preparatory division of the SF Conservatory of Music and play on the freshmen basketball team.

Hi Im was wondering what are the odds of an 8th grader with a 4.0 to get into the Biomedical Cluster at UC Davis. Anyone got any advice? I have great reviews from my teachers and my essays were ok I guess. Is BioMed hard to get into?

Hey people, I applied to UC Davis in Computer Security, Privacy, & Cybervillany, do you guys think it will be super hard to get into this cluster? Also did you guys application status go away? Mines used to say applied now its just gone! lol

my application status is also gone…i’m really worried haha. i probably didn’t get in, i applied to biomed. but i’m praying dearly to God and hoping for a miracle! :)

@pwiltzuc, I also applied for the Computer Security, Privacy, & Cybervillany course, and from the looks of it, it doesn’t seem like a very popular course compared to all the biology-related clusters; I am roughly guessing that around 30-50 people applied. Does anyone know how popular the Computers and Biophysics and Robotics course @ UCDavis is?

@reallycool9- i hope that doesnt mean we didnt get accepted
@ericcction-is your application status gone too?

@pwiltzuc Nope, when I click on “Application Status” it shows the requirements with either a Y or N next to it. Is yours blank?

@ericcction- I have all Y next to transcripts/FA/Application fee/and the other ones. However it used to say application status next to it it said"applied". Now that part is gone not the others. Is that part gone in your tab

@pwiltzuc Hmm… I think it’s gone for me too. But nonetheless I don’t think it has anything to do with if we got accepted or not; they will send out emails. Good luck to you and everybody else who applied!

Good luck to you! I hope we all get in!

Did anybody get into UCI

UC Davis sent out the result today. I got the email at 10:35 a.m.

Got into Chemistry Cluster at UCD! SO EXCITED!!!

yeahhh!!! i got an email back today at 10:35 too
engineering mechanics UDC
:D
