just wondering how much it is (an estimate) to apply to a school. if it depends what type of school (UC, ivy league, etc) then I guess just tell me how much for each type of school, thanks. it might be a weird question, but i just wanna know, thanks

Are you asking what the fee is for making application?

i estimated a $70 application fee for each of my schools (some are more, some less, i think most ivies are $75), then about $10 for my SAT or ACT score report (haven't decided which), and $5 for my school transcript for a total of about $85 per college. and of course some are free apps, and my school will give me a couple of free transcripts hopefully if i ask nicely=)

altogether though if I stick to my plan of applying to around 25 colleges, I'm looking at $2000 in application fees alone. I'll probably be paying at least half of it, I'm trying to save up to pay for the other half b/c I don't want my parents to bear the burden of my indecisiveness and insecurity, haha. but yeah as of right now i really can't afford it, lol.

50-60 USD ea.

hannah: why don't you take the other $1500 and donate it to a local charity? Really? Is the fifteen or so other colleges that you can't eliminate from your list that valuable to you?

hm,

Don't forget the cost of sending the the Profile and all of the mailing costs as well, my ballpark was always about $100/college.

And have you thought about the non-monetary cost of applying to so many colleges: sub-par applications due to lack of time and focus. Will you really be able to customize all of your essays and turn in top notch applications to 25 schools? I've seen your list: state schools each with their own application, BS/MD programs with extra essays, top schools each with a supplement, UChicago, etc. Two years ago my D applied to many of the same schools, 11 excellent applications took a long time to complete. It's hard to imagine that trying to submit 25 would not result in diminishing returns.

hm: I saw that you were also applying to some non-fee school. What utility can you gain from having say, twelve accepts, ten of which you have no reasonable idea of attending? Is it insecurity or ego? I recall that you have pretty good metrics. With that, you'll be accepted at some good programs. OK? Be confident at that.

We did this last year, and estimated $100 per school with test scores, app fees and other stuff. It came in at less than that, but basically if you do 10 schools its $700 to $1,000 depending.

@T26E4: definitely insecurity. i'm scared ****less of no one wanting me=( and CC definitely doesn't help that already plummeting self-esteem.
