since ur family makes less than 70k, all ur systemwide fees and tuition will be covered (blue and gold opportunity plan). basically u just have to pay for living expenses, books, etc.

Here’s a list of the dorm rates, per year. For apartments (off campus), it can range from $400-$1000+ depending on the location and size (also many other factors, really).

Other apartments are also available but for upper division students/transfers (e.g. Channing-Bowditch, etc). The rates are all on the living at Cal site:

Humm…
seems like this essentially removes Berkeley from my list unless i can make reagents, which should cut down my total cost down to EFC level…

Arg… this is rather disappointing.

Anyone know of any other major need based scholarships that might cover a bid of that living expenses?

Actually anyone know of good merit based ones?, I would think my application is solid enough that i can have a decent shot at a few of them at Berkeley. Any Fellowship type of programs at Berkeley?

i’m not sure about merit-base at cal (besides regents) but definitely fill out the fafsa and go to fastweb.com there’s thousands of scholarships out there that just require a 500 word essay for $500…they all add up. my mom knows a woman who made her kids fill out one scholarship app every day after school (they’re middle class, two parents so probably make >70k) and all of it totaled to a full tuition room and board for them. so don’t get yourself down about it and certainly apply–you never know what kind of luck may come your way!
