Cost of Emory/Oxford education?

Can anyone please tell me how much the total fees are per year at Oxford at Emory and/or Emory College? If you find a link I would appreciate it thanks!

http://oxford.emory.edu/affordability/

Every year cost of attendance rises a few thousand. So 4 years at Emory will likely be $200,000+ after all expenses, going to Oxford for the first two would decrease that to maybe $180,000+.

Finaid is good though if you qualify.

How was your finaid jmw123?

Thanx! jmw123 I appreciate it, college has gotten so costly.

I applied EDI, so I got an estimate for Finaid, and from what I can tell, if you make under $100k a year, it’ll break down to having to pay your EFC, $3500 in loans a year, and $2k or so in Work Study a year. So if you’re low or middle income (and I mean real middle income, not the kind of people who make $300k a year and claim they are simply upper-middle class), it’s not too bad to pay $7-15k a yr for an Emory education. I was looking at some state schools and they were ending up just as expensive if not more.

You can get a pretty accurate idea of your EFC from using the collegeboard’s calculator: http://apps.collegeboard.com/fincalc/efc_welcome.jsp

zin, you can always look these common college stats up on collegeboard. just for future reference

emory university claims oxford is cheaper because it is smaller and has less facilities. However, this doesn’t make sense to me. oxford also has less people to share the cost of these facilities. IMO, Oxford is cheaper because the opportunities/facilities aren’t as great.

In Oxford’s defense, some of the cost savings come from being in a cheaper area where housing and wages aren’t as high as the Druid Hills area. I live close by, and the immediate surrounding area of Oxford is definitely less developed then what you’d expect.

The actual tuition difference is only about $6k for 2008-2009. But the thing is, unless you’re paying for it all out of pocket, then Oxford and Emory would cost you the same, because you’ll have greater need at Emory. And if you are paying for it out of pocket, really what’s an extra $20k, when you’ve spent $180k anyways?

Emory also gets the benefits of economy of scale. Don’t expect any big beautiful gym or massive libraries at Oxford. Still I understand why somebody might want to go to Oxford despite it being very small and yet very expensive.
