Cost of Greek Life at USC

Forgive me if this has been asked already...

I'm an incoming freshman at USC this fall. I'm interested in rushing, but I'm concerned about the cost. I recall reading somewhere that dues for sororities can range from $2000-7000 per semester...is this true at USC? I don't want to go through the whole recruitment process, find a sorority I love, and not be able to pledge because it's too expensive. I know that the costs vary from sorority to sorority, but it's not like I can email each sorority and ask about their dues (that would seem pretty presumptuous, I think...)

Also, are the dues the same whether you live in the house or not (or does this also depend on the sorority)? Because then obviously it would be expensive to pay the dues on top of paying for a dorm- but once I moved into the house, it would probably be cheaper than other housing options...

any thoughts/advice?

my daughter is in one. 3,000 dollars this school year

Regular semester dues aren’t that high. Your first semester/year dues will be higher because of extra fees you have to pay. For example, one sorority on campus costs $1600 your first semester, $1400 your second semester and then about $1000 every semester after that. Regular semester dues range between 1-2k. From my understanding, some sororities require you to pay a small fee if you don’t live in the house. Living in the housing is often a cheaper housing option because your meals are included, but it’s still expensive. You’d be paying around 1-2k for dues and 4-6k for housing.
