Cost of sending ACT test scores - annoyed

Just a vent. My son took the ACT once a year starting as a freshman, so four times total. (He’s weird - he likes standardized testing.) He improved each time, but his best scores on all sections and overall were from his last sitting in June he started his senior year: 35 overall. Meaning, no need for super scoring.

Rice wants ALL test scores anyway. That’s $13 x 4 tests + $24 “archive fee” for the one from freshman year…a total of $76 just for ACT tests. Plus two SAT subject test scores for Math 2 and Chemistry ($12 each), application fee ($75), and CSS profile fee ($16).

We have $191 wrapped up just in this application! Grrr. Love the schools that allow you to self-report, and if you’re admitted, send the official reports to prove you didn’t lie.

It is annoying how the ACT charges for each individual sitting.

Hopefully you just paid one fee to send the SAT subject tests, since college board lets you send all scores to a specific school for the one $12 fee.

I thought the Rice application was free?

I would not send the freshman archived version

@techinerd the Rice application isn’t free ($75). Having said that, it seems Rice does give a generous amount of fee waivers. My D received one after interviewing in late summer via email. It worked out because she was accepted ED.

My son got a fee waiver for no apparent reason so I assumed everyone got one.
