Cost of Stanford

I remember seeing something that outlines the cost of tuition, room, board, fees, and books, but I can't find it again. I need the info for a scholarship app. Anybody have the link or know the numbers?

The tuition and room and board numbers for next year were reported in the Stanford Daily recently.

ok thanks guys

soccerfanatic: what are your current thoughts on Stanford vs. other options?

Well I haven't submitted the FAFSA and IDOC yet (I will within the next couple days though). I can't really say until I know what my financial aid offers are.
Speaking of which, has anybody received their final offers? What did you think of Stanford's?

well with the recent update that anyone beneath a 45k income will be guranteed a full ride, i have a feelign that fin aid from stanford will be much sweeter than that of last year.

Stanford's financial aid has always been very reasonable. I've heard lots of stories about students who paid less to go here than Berkeley, which has much less cash to give out.

Here are some stats for yawll:
Family Income: 135,000
Parent Contribution: 25,000
Student Contribution: 5,000
Loan Package: around 4,000
The rest is University Scholarship.
My parents think its terrible but I don't think it's THAT bad. We will see. Good luck to you all!!!!

Wait you make 135k and you only have to pay 25k??? We made 75k in 2004 and they wouldn't give us anything when we sent in our estimates a while ago. And in 2005, we made 107k so I thought it would be hopeless to ask for finaid. I haven't gotten my offer yet.
Maybe it's all because they've changed their finaid system- maybe I really can get a decent offer from them now.... what did other people get (if you're comfortable with posting)?

yes, please please post

25k seemed quite standard for me, as it was the same number the princeton financial aid pre-calculator gave. But some of the extra fees is my younger brother goes to private school, as did I. But I think you should definately get some money this year. Perhaps the University Funds were lower that year. I don't know. I hope things get better for you!!!

but that estimate was given to u with ur early admission right? before they had the new financial aid movement?

that is true

what new financial aid movement?

families making under 45k dont have to pay tuition
it basically affects everyone, especially if you make under or close to under 45k

hey just to let you guys know. it looks like the financial aid packages have been finalized on Axess. take a look. they were updated 3/24.

when i log into axess it takes me to a site for the employees.

do you have to send in your deposit and enrollment stuff before you can see your financial aid info online?

my fin aid package still shows the estimated amount
ajimmykid, is your finalized package significantly different from the estimated one?

it's not significant, but it's clearly different. especially since it's to the dollar instead of to the hundred dollar. It also allows me to accept or decline the perkins loan offered. and the fact that it says the perkins loan instead of PLUS or stafford means that they decided perkins was the best for my case. youll see the difference.
