I finally got into the FAFSA and our EFC went from $1876 last year $2485 this year … only $609 difference and almost 3K less in aid – which doesn’t include the $1500 raise in school costs… I just wasn’t expecting this … The school has suggested I write in and let them know of any changes – which there haven’t been many – but I feel that just the disparity in the EFC and the aid reductions is worth mentioning.

We’ve always received email notification of tuition increases (in March) for the upcoming school year.

Our experience has been that for returning students, FA packages are not sent out to families until July or August (depending when school starts). That is generally when the coming year’s costs are disclosed.

If you are unhappy with the package, you can always contact them and point out the discrepancies or any changed circumstances. I did that this summer since I am no longer able to work and we have incurred even worse medical bills than usual. Can’t hurt, might help!
