I graduated in 1990 and I still am "true to my school", today I was sitting here screaming my lungs out watching the cougs play USC. I don't care if it drives my kids nuts. It would be great to see some action on this board. My dad went to WSU too. I loved my college years--absolutely would live them all over again. Proud to be a cougar, still!

Well, I'll bite. Son is a HS junior and considering WSU. H went there for 1 year but found it pretty isolated and transfered to UW. I can picture S in a big school environment but worry about the support services for someone who doesn't usually ask for help. Could you talk about the greek scene? Is there stuff to do that doesn't involve drinking? Son is an average-good student who is diligent about work but not a passionate learner. What do you know about the business school?
I watched the game yesterday and really thought WSU might pull it off. Although I'm a Husky, I was cheering them on.

I don't know anything about the business school. I wasn't in the Greek system, but did know people who were, who actually were pretty grounded. WSU isn't known for having a mellow greek system.

I didn't drink either, so I had to find other activities. I never had a problem with boredom! There are clubs, working out, going to movies, dances, concerts, plays, and a multitude of sporting activities or events. I got very involved with my dorm. I held an office every year and then I was president of McCroskey Hall my Junior year.

I think there are plenty of resources available on campus and at least in the residence hall system the resident advisors are there to help spot students who might need some help.

Being in the heart of campus kept me active. Living off campus to me was horrible. Hiking up the hill would have kept me from doing all the things I did. It would be easy to just say, "oh, I will just stay home tonight". I liked being around people, getting to know lots of different gals, and having all the action within a few minutes. It also makes going to the library easier to study.

I didn't choose UW because I needed to leave home...I wanted to stay forever at home, so I needed to flap my wings and find out who I was. WSU was an obvious choice. I had a wonderful experience there and I wish you and your son the best of luck with this decision.
