could a A.B. candidate switch to B.S.E.?

I applied (and was admitted) as an A.B. candidate since I had no interest in engineering. But now some people are telling me an engineering degree is very useful and good training. Can I still switch to a B.S.E. when I'm at Princeton?

Yep- you sure can, although be sure that you're genuinely interested in engineering, and not just the utility of the degree.

It's very good training...if you want to be an engineer. All kidding aside, ORFE is obviously a very useful major, and the others will certainly ensure you a successful career. But if you're really only interested in using engineering as a signal to prospective employers, investment banks for example, that you are analytical, quantitative, etc. then there are better ways of doing that than majoring in something you're not passionate about.

Out of curiosity, why did you apply to BSE anyways, screwitlah?
Did you know it would be easier to get in?

i didn't apply as a B.S.E. but as an A.B. candidate. I believe I stated it quite clearly in both this thread and your thread.

Oh, oops. Sorry. ^^" Just kidding.
My fault, I didn't see that properly.

You can definitely switch: I was given the option of switching on my matriculation form. I read that you can also switch to the BSE degree after your first year, provided you took the appropriate courses your first year (full year of math and physics, adding a semester of computer science/programming for computer engineering and full year of chemistry for chemical engineering). I'm in a similar situation: I applied with an interest in physics, but part of me wonders if I would end up enjoying engineering. I plan on finding that out my first year and deciding whether or not to switch after that.

I wish I could remember the webpage that had this information. If I find it again I'll link it.
