Could anyone use a few words to describe each top boarding school?

Wrong. Purposely misusing a word a la Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh is rude. I cannot stand it. It’s like saying someone’s name wrong - on purpose. Rude and insulting.

But prepschooler wasn’t purposely trying to misuse the word. His (her?) intent had no malice, so commenting on how he/she is an “idiot” isn’t very nice…

I hear the whir of the axe against the grindstone. Intolerance is such a nasty thing, isn’t it?

Alright rebelangel, first thing is that I was rushing when I wrote this. I have read many threads before and some members were all over the place with their grammar and spelling. Some even messed up the name of the schools. Its an online forum, not a school assignment. Many people on this thread were explaining that many or most boarding schools are liberal. I, however, thought that Taft was leaning more to the conservative side. They have a political newspaper called “The Perspective.” The Taft website states,

“The Perspective is a student-run political opinion newspaper that is published on a monthly basis and generally reflects the conservative viewpoint. However, all students and faculty are encouraged to submit articles on current issues regardless of their political position. It is hoped that the dialogue will enlighten the School community.”

So, it seems as if the school has a conservative publication, but I couldn’t find a liberal one. Also, Taft has a Republican Club as I stated before. Throughout the application process I have noticed that most schools with this club also have a Democratic Club. This seems a little unbalanced to me.

I also feel this way because I know many people that are associated with Taft and believe it has conservative leanings. This is only my opinion on the school, and many other people may have a different perspective.

Lost my temper. I apologize prepschooler…

So many times I hear right wing nut jobs purposely misuse the word and I shouldn’t have assumed that you were doing that.

I know what your saying with glenn beck and his strange way of saying things. But I was not trying to influence anyones political opinion.

Any more descriptions for Milton?

Does anyone here currently go to the Taft school? Please message me!

rebelangel,

You should think before you speak. Prepschooler was actually correct in calling it a “democrat” club. The two dominant parties in this country are the Republicans and the Democrats. Democrat is a noun (just as Republican is a noun) whereas democratic is an adjective. Why use the adjective instead of the noun to name a club?

But, you went even further by insulting Prepschooler. Surely you must have heard the adage “Look before you leap.” Start applying that. You will save yourself some embarassment.
