As a person who loves to ski, play at the beach, and kick a soccer ball, there's almost no better place than Pomona. Along with Williams, it's my top choice. I've posted some stats and was wondering if i could be a sagehen someday?

I had great on-campus interview as well. Just to note: I'm from Utah and an Asian-American. By the way i am not mormon.

Welcome to CC! I'd say you'd be a very strong candidate for Pomona. And just to let you know, it would take about the same amount of time driving to get from Pomona to the Pacific as it would be from Williams to the Atlantic. ;)

Yes, you look like a very good candidate. Just make sure to write good eassays. You say you already had an on-campus interview, as a junior? I had no idea they did them so early. Doing well there will definitely help you too. good luck.

aabar, your grades, courseload, extracurriculars and community service all look very strong (11 AP classes - holy crap, and I thought my taking 6 was time-consuming!). I say you'd be an extremely competitive candidate for admission to Pomona. What's really impressive is your debate record and accolades and your founding two clubs/organizations ON TOP OF varsity and club athletics all four years and student council leadership! Like arsenal said, make sure to write good essays and to not slack off senior year. If you really want to, you can try taking the SAT Reasoning test again to see if you can boost those scores to around 750 each and also improve your Lit score (but Bio and US History look great!). With all your activities and academic accomplishments, you might not need to boost your SAT since you're already well in range, but college admissions has so much of the element of crapshoot sometimes that if you have the time it would never hurt to try.

When all is said and done, however, it looks like you have a very good shot at getting into Pomona (and probably Williams too), but of course I'll look forward to seeing you at Pomona in Fall 2007!

Yeah the interview was really lucky. I was only going to be in claremont once and so they granted me the on campus interview despite my junior status.

Although you are a strong candidate for admission to either Pomona or Williams, I strongly encourage you to not put all your eggs in one basket (semi-pun intended) and make sure you have other good matches and safeties that you like on your list as well as back-up. ;)

Given your stats, your matches would be highly ranked schools, but admission to any school, as with everything except death and taxes, is not certain. Seeing that you're looking at both coasts, you might consider looking at matches/safeties ranging from Oxy to Skidmore. Swarthmore seems to be a popular other choice for Sagehen aspirants. A lot of it depends on what you're looking for in a school (other than skiing, going to the beach, and playing soccer!).
