Could I explain why my GPA is so low in my transcript?

Well, Freshman year I was very adolescent and did not focus on grades that much. I went to vacation the summer of Freshman year, and my resolve for that year was to stop playing around and kick up my grades. But the problem was, I was afflicted with Hepatitis B that year during school and was out for two straight weeks. My rise in average is still consistent, like in English I went from a 70 to a 75 first to second term, respectively. Soph. year I went from 80-90, and junior year I went from a 96-100. I have about the same curve for History, and math. But my GPA is still a 76/100 (not sure what this translates into on 4.0 scale), so it is quite terrible, could I put an explanation for it on my essay?

Don’t waste your precious personal essay explaining low grades!

Consider submitting a supplemental statement to explain your grades. Then write something personal, detailed, honest and revealing in your essay.

Yeah, maybe you could talk about how your life has changed with having Hepatitis B. Or not?
