I am going to be a Junior in a Maryland Catholic College Prepatory School. My current GPA is a 4.0 unweighted and a 4.4 weighted. My school does not offer AP Classes until sophmore year, and only a history AP is available to be taken. I took AP Government this past year. I have taken around 4 Honors Courses as well, the max I could have taken was 6 these past two years. I have over 300 Service Hours that include me volunteering at the hospital every week, playing piano for elderly people in nursing homes, and helping autistic children at one of the local special education programs. I am involved in many clubs including The Latin Honor Society, Ski Club, A Club that Raises money for kids with Childhood Cancer, Student Ambassadors (40 students are selected each year to serve as a “leader” to new students for the year), Students Against Destructive Descisions, and A Club that involves debating on recent Political News. I am still preparing for the SAT. I play piano, golf, and ski (as said before) we are planning on starting a golf program next year that I will participate in.

My Classes are:

Freshman-
English 09 Honors (A+)
Honors Beg. Physics (A+)
World History (A+) highest grade in the class for one semester
Geometry sophmore course
Theology I (A+) Highest Grade in the class for one semester
Latin 1 (A+) highest grade in the class for both semesters

Highest GPA in Freshman Class (a tie)

Sophmore:
AP Gov (A on the boarder of A+, probably will get there)
English 10 Honors (A+)
Bio Honors (A+)
Algebra II (A+)
Theology II (A+)
Latin II (A+)

Most Likely Highest GPA in Sophmore Class

My school only gives out highest GPA’s and Highest Grades in classes, but they do not disclose class rank overall. I am definitely in the top 3 kids (out of around 70)

Brown and Columbia are my top schools that I want to go to. So, am I good enough?

yeah… i think you are capable enough of getting in… however, there are lots of people with similar stats… so you really need to shine through your essays…

Btw, even i really liked columbia and brown ( I know it sounds weird - one flaunts its core curriculum and the other its open curriculum) … but i finally decided on brown :)

Thanks! And I am also applying for an Internship for next year at Fort Detrick in Maryland, it is a research facility. I plan on also starting up a new club at our school. However, “planning on it” and actually following through are two completely different things, of course. Haha.

Come back when you are in the end of junior year

Alright. And just as an update:
After finals I have an A+ in AP Gov. So I had all A+'s for the year.

Same question here?

760 Math
750 Writing
800 Spanish SAT II

730 Math 2 SAT II

GPA: 4.05 W, not sure UW but straight A’s cumulatively for the 2010-11 school year

5 on AP Chem and on AP Spanish
Waiting on scores from AP Physics B, AP US History, AP Lang. & Comp.

Senior year roster: AP Lit. & Comp., AP Government & Politics, AP Calc BC, AP Environmental Science, Graphic Design, possibly Contemporary Issues MG

I attend a competitive Philadelphia magnet school that has been around since 1836 and am a middle-class Jewish girl with some Ecuadorian heritage.

I sing in my school’s choir and select choir and am the “green correspondent” on my school’s TV show and captain of the swim team. I do darkroom photography and have had work in student art shows around the city. I am in NHS and introduced the speaker at induction. I teach kindergarten at Hebrew school, work at a farm-to-table cafe, and am spending August working at a family hiking camp in the Adirondacks, growing food, doing maintenance, and spending time on the mountains. Also, I volunteer at my polling place every election day (except for this past May, when I visited Brown on the day off).

As of now I think I would go for a double concentration in Environmental Studies and Urban Studies or Public Policy. Ultimately I think I want to end up either in architecture or law, but I’m not really sure yet of which.

Also, I think I’m going to apply ED.
