Could I get In?

I am a junior now and a Michigan resident

31 act, 3.8 weighted gpa at a tough private school

volunteer at tennis club, volunteer at older persons community, robotics, 4 years varsity tennis, will be senior captain, newspaper, NHS

What's your UMich GPA?

How do I find it?

Only academic classes (so no electives, like gym, art, etc.) count towards GPA. Take out all the +/-'s. All B's are 3, all A's are 4. No weights on anything.

and only from sophomore and junior year

about a 3.5-3.6 then

probably closer to 3.5

Does anyone know?

wait until you take the SAT or ACT

Look at my first post

31 ACT score cumulative

the unweighted gpa is a little low, and at umich, GPA is HUGE. your ACT score is fine (same as mine) and I got in.

so.. you might want to raise the gpa. these are the stats off of the umich site:
* 28% with a 4.0 GPA
* 52% with 3.9 or higher GPA

its crazy that with a 3.8 your in the bottom quarter already...

Thats wrong in my book

EDIT

ok wait i'm wrong...

with a 3.8 you'd be right in the middle. 52% have a 3.9 or HIGHER. That includes the 28% that have a 4.0.

Well I got deferred with a 3.6 UM, 32 ACT, legacy, in-state, good (tempted to say great...check my old posts). So if you haven't applied already I'd say UMich is a slight reach.

I"m a junior...I have a year to apply

Try and improve your GPA as much as you can this year and retake your ACT if you think you can do significantly better. As it stands, you have a chance, but not a great one.

Oops, sorry for misreading it...wait to retake the ACT, your score will probably go up if you are only a junior now and have already gotten a 31.
