could i get in?

----GPA- 3.83 W, probably ~3.6 UW (only will have taken like 2 or 3 APs when i graduate but more preAPs... 25%ile

----SAT-2190 690 m 760 cr 740 w(maybe retake

----EC's- nothing special

what do yall think?

you have a good chance! Just make sure you work hard on your essays and write about things that interest you. You’ll be fine, good luck!

how is the finaid/ merit scholarship? I am from texas btw

ECs—4 year basketball(2 year letter), 4 year cross country(1 year letter) at a 5A school with 2600+ students, National Merit Qualifier(waiting to see if it is commended scholar or semifinalist, probably just commended) NHS, maybe 60+ hrs community service, worked on and off for 2 years at baskin robbins and refereed youth basketball, aau nationals every summer, cerebrals society member (not sure if that even counts)

I got in with similar stats (3.9; 2120) but I was an instate resident.

You should be competitive.

you have a decent shot ( not a guaranteed in cuz u r oos ) but i would say 60 % of chance as in
good luck how are ur SAT IIs ?

i havent taken any SAT IIs, should i do that or take the ACT + W?

IMO, having never taken the ACT, i would say take the SAT IIs, since they tend to be easier

if i do better on CR than math, then what subject tests would i bet suited for? Lit and History?

I believe subject tests are still required for the HS class of 2010. Only AP’s are weighted in an OOS UC GPA. And only sophomore and junior grades. Financial aid for 00S students is usually not “good”. Rumor has it, OOS students paying full price is what makes them attractive.

crap i may drop UCs of my list altogether then

bump anyway lol

just take the SAT IIs, trust me they are waaaaaaaayyyyy easier that SAT I ( which you seemed to have destroyed )

well can i have time to retake the SAT I and also take SAT IIs? Also which SAT IIs are the easiest?

People seem to think Math 2 is a good choice.

i suck at math as you can see by my 690

Everything is relative I guess. 690 doesn’t “suck” for maybe 90 percent of SAT takers. People also suggest its the easiest to prepare for, and has a decent curve. All the other subject tests seem to depend on you being good at something in particular. Like speaking Chinese.

Disclaimer: I’m just a mom.

lol im straight white so foreign language tests are out of the question, i will look into math 2.

take math 2 ( i am sure u can get a 700 +)
and wat aps did u take ur jr yr ?

eng lang- 5, unfortunately thats it. My whole life i had planned on going to texas state; a 4th tier public for unambitious texans who couldn’t get into A&M or UT. But lately I have been thinking maybe I could do better than that
