ECs—4 year basketball(2 year letter), 4 year cross country(1 year letter) at a 5A school with 2600+ students, National Merit Qualifier(waiting to see if it is commended scholar or semifinalist, probably just commended) NHS, maybe 60+ hrs community service, worked on and off for 2 years at baskin robbins and refereed youth basketball, aau nationals every summer, cerebrals society member (not sure if that even counts)

Yes, you could get in. GPA is maybe a tad bit low, but you’re definitely in a good position. Just write a good essay and you have a very good shot of getting in.

your uw gpa is a little low, but i’ve definitely seen people with similar gpa’s get in. plus, your sat scores are outstanding and should fill in for the slight weakness in grades. judging from your sat scores, you may be a national merit as well. this could be really good for you bc if you eventually get accepted, you will get the presidential scholarship, which is 1/2 tuition off.

alas, but i am not national merit, i got a 58 on math which killed me lol

what sucks is on my sophomore PSAT i got a 63 on math and if i just could have matched that score i would be getting thousands more dollars, superscore the PSAT lol? But you still think it is worth applying?

In your case, t’s going to be a tough call because it can go either way. Write some killer essays to show USC your passions and you will definitely have a chance to get in.

The reason someone asked for your major is that the different schools within USC evaluate your application differently and some schools are more competitive than others. For example, Marshall School of Business and Viterbi School of Engineering tend to look for strong math scores and high GPA’s.

Study the USC admissions website and submit a great application- following all instructions as closely as possible.
Good luck!

Since the USC essay prompt that says—Write an essay about an event or experience that helped you learn what is important to you and why it is important.— is very similar to the common app prompt that says—“Evaluate a significant experience, achievement, risk you have taken, or ethical dilemma you have faced and its impact on you.”— could i use the same essay? I wrote about how a significant experience made me realize what i wanted to do with my life
