Hi,
I heard that Penn ED has a 50% Legacy acceptance rate. Is this true?
I think I have fairly average stats for Penn:
ACT: 32
Varsity sports
Volunteering
Teachers like me
GPA: A (W and unW)
Do you think I could get in? Im a legacy.
Thanks!
PS: im not just applying ED because I am a legacy, I truly love the school.

Could you post point values for your GPA (weighted and unweighted?) That would give a better idea in terms of stats.
Also courses that you have taken/Plan to take senior year?

Approximately a 97 weighted and 94 unweighted. Top 10% of my class.
4.0? sorry this scale confuses me. My school does it strangely and I don’t know exactly what this is.
and senior year i plan to take 5 more APs. I have already taken AP Calc and AP English 11, plus all honors offered.
I will take AP Stats, AP Psych, AP Physics, AP Bio, AP Spanish

They only acknowledge legacy when it’s ED. Too late if you’re applying this year.

No I was planning for next year. It’s just that I am super excited for college admissions! Has anyone ever heard of a legacy with “in range” stats get flat out rejected?

OK, Ill definitely try to get my scores up an write awesome essays! Thanks!

The legacy ED acceptance rate is NOT 50%. According to the Alumni Council on Admissions, it has been 38%-42% over the last 5 years, compared to 28%-34% for all ED applicants (see the table at the bottom of the page):
