I know grades aren't the only factor, but that is the part I'm worrying about. I just want to know if they are good enough.

I have a 3.8 unweighted GPA, 4.2 weighted, and I only got B-averages in 9th and 10th grade (due to a couple of classes I got an awful grade in). I made up a .5 credit from 9th grade and 1 credit from 11th grade during this last summer. I finished my credit requirements. I only took 2 AP classes but took 5 AP exams and got a 5 on each one. I also got a 2200 sat score.

Are my grades and test scores "good enough" to get into a UK school?

Also, do most universities there recquire Americans to have 2 high school foreign language credits? If so, do they have to be in the same language? Thanks! (:

There is no one answer. It depends on the university. You would need to check each university that’s of interest to you and understand their requirements. They’re likely to vary widely. Unlike the United States, stating undecided as a major or changing majors after you start university, so common in the US, is the exception in the UK.

There is some information on the web. You’ll find that it’s not as specific as you’d like. If you’ve graduated from an IB program you’ll have an easier time in applying and in knowing where you stand. But if not, then you’ll need to ask the admissions team at the universities of interest.

To give you a sense of what you’ll need to do, I looked up the University of Sussex (only because I’m familiar with it … not as a suggestion), and this is what they recommend you do:

In brief they ask that you provide a list of your courses and grades and send it to them (in an email) and they’ll let you know what to do next.
