Weighted GPA: 3.3
Un-weighted: 3.0
Class Rank: 299 of 549

I am a member of 3 clubs, I have had a summer job, I haven't taken any sports. I have ONLY taken all AP/Pre-AP/Duel Credit classes all through high school, basically hardest classes I could have possibly taken all through High School. On the P-ACT I made a 25 and on the P-SAT I made a 1800. UT and Baylor are my top two choices for college, what do you guys think are my odds of getting in each of them? Are my ACT and SAT scores acceptable? Are there any things I can do over summer to get my odds up of getting accepted to either of them? What do you guys think of these colleges? Any help, advice, or tips would be great, thank you!

Also, if this is useful, I want to go to Law School and become an attorney.

I accidentally used my old scores, on my current P-ACT I made a 30 and on the P-SAT I made a 1960! :)

Baylor yes UT no. Well, you could use CAP to get to UT.

Your scores are in the average pool of applicants, did you apply EA? I did and just got my acceptance today.

@Lizardly I’m sorry, what is the CAP and how can I use it to get into UT?
@slomsdalen Does applying early help? Can anyone apply early? I think i’m going to graduate next year normally at the end.

I dont know what you mean by graduate are you not a senior at the moment? And the early deadline ended november 1st so no not anymore, you can still apply for Regular Decision, idk when you would get your decision though.

Just do not apply late it shows that you don’t care too much about the school, and that hurts at private universities. In your personal statements just be very enthusiastic about baylor and you should get in.

Check the bealonghorn site for updates, but CAP is a program for Texas residents in which you can attend a participating UT branch school for a year, take certain classes, make a minimum GPA, then be guaranteed to be able to transfer to UT Austin. You aren’t guaranteed of a major, just to be attended to the university. CAP is great for kids who are determined to go to UT but can’t make the class rank cut off.

@slomsdalen I am a Junior right now, sorry forgot to add that. Thanks for the advice!
@Lizardly Do you think I should go to Baylor then transfer to UT or do you think I have a better chance at going to a branch school and going into CAP to get into UT? Do you think because of my class rank I have no chance into getting in UT?

If you want to end up at UT, CAP is the way to go. The rules for transferring are clear. If you make high enough college grades, you will be able to transfer, your high school grades won’t matter.

But should you do it? I think that depends. You may well get to Baylor or that UT branch campus and be so happy there that you won’t want to transfer. I’d attend with an open mind. Be thinking about transferring, but if you fall in love with Baylor, stay at Baylor.
