Could I get into Cambridge University as an American Student?

Wouldn’t each of the Oxbridge colleges differ in terms of “feel” and “fit”?

@PurpleTitan, to some extent yes, but b/c of the pooling systems, everybody has to take the university as a whole- it varies a bit by year, but some +/- 30% of applicants are pooled to another college at both universities. Surprisingly, in the pooling process the colleges themselves seem to do a pretty good job of matching students to the colleges (it helps that they get to meet them at interview before final allocation).

For most people the difference between applying to Ox or Cam seems to come down to either the specific course that they want to study (surprisingly big differences in some courses) or the preference for the town size/feel. For UK students there is a third major variable, which is that Cam is interested UMS (subscores for the A level testing process) and Ox is not- so people who end up with a good overall grade but uneven UMS may go for Ox > Cam.
