I know that people in the top 8% automatically get in, but I've heard that Mccombs is very tough.

I don’t know about UT either - but, one of my friends got in and he was in the top 10%, except the top 10% in our school is approximately: 65/650

Good chance but that rank is kinda staining an otherwise great picture. Out of curiosity… I was wondering why you have those engineering EC’s but chose not to go into engineering.

I used high school to explore my interests. I learned about business (like what a few different majors learn, available careers, etc) through looking stuff up and really liked it. Engineering was great but it’s not for me. And I knew my rank would come to bite me back -_- what I don’t get guys is if my rank makes me less competitive for mccombs do I really stand a shot for t20 schools? maybe I’ve just been spending too much time on here.

Yes, most top 20 schools will take a more holistic approach to admissions than UT does. Grades and rank are still important, but who your are and what you have done outside of the classroom carries more weight.

Of course, McCombs is a better business school than many other “good” schools. It’s #1 right now for it’s Accounting Undergrad and Graduate programs. Top 20 doesn’t mean top 20 for everything.
