I'm not one of the strongest students (SAT wise) however I do have fairly good grades. My gpa is 4.0 unweighted-with 95's-100's in every class from freshman year to junior, with a 1620 sat score (i know, it's horrific). My extracurriculars include: National Honours Society (4 years), assistant teacher and tutor for computer and literature classes (2 years), research assistant at mt. sinai school of medicine (summer of 11' and this year-i'm currently co-authoring a psychiatry book), and hundreds of hours of community services. While I do know that extracurriculars are not exceedingly important in Canada, I thought I'd just add them. I am taking the sats again, and hopefully I will do much better. I've taken 5 AP classes (lit, psych, bio, us, world) and got 5's on each of them. I would love to go to McGill in Montreal, so please give me your opinions! I'm a white male in a public high school in the Bronx, New York.

It is strange that your SAT scores are not that good, given your 5 grades on your AP courses.

My son raised his CR SAT from a 730 to an 800, and his math from a 660 to a 700, both with zero studying, so if you can raise your SAT scores a bit, you might well get in. You might need to get an 1800 though. On their websight, I think they list their minimum requirements.

By the way, my grandfather lived on the Grand Concourse in the Bronx, and his name was Max Katz.

Take the ACT. Some kids do much better on it than the SAT. Great job with your AP scores! You should be proud.

I’m in the same situation right now. I’m a senior. I have fairly good grades, 90-100s in every class. my average in 10th grade is 88% though. and I’m expecting around 94-95% on my first term now(i’m assuming that I can apply with my first term grades from 12th grade), and i’m taking AP Calculus. I did my SAT in november and i’m expecting the grades soon. I think that I might get a 1700, do you think that this score is enough?. I’m an african american living in the UAE(United Arab Emirates). I go to a high-school that follows the American curriculum so it’s just like a highschool in the US. However, there aren’t any extracurricular activities for me to participate in. Do you think that I can get into mcgill? I really really need your opinions.

McGill does not focus on extracurricular at all. In fact, there isn’t even an option for it when you turn in your application. Your SAT score might hurt your chances though. You should atleast have a 1850 when applying to McGill. Oh, and also the fact that your african-american can be helpful in your admission to McGill.

Okay so I just got my SAT score, i got 1790. And can you elaborate on " Oh, and also the fact that your african-american can be helpful in your admission to McGill."
