Could I get into Pace University?

<p>GPA: 1.88
ACT: 17 (retaking it in Feb)
African-American</p>

<p>My grades are bad mostly because my family and I were homeless and then my dad died all within these last four years. I was depressed and couldn't handle all of it at once. School on top of everything was too much. I talk about this in my essay.</p>

<p>I have 2 really good letters of recommendation, and very academic extra curricular activities which include mock trial, deca, debate, academic decathlon and student government... I've gotten a few really good awards and one is state wide.</p>

<p>I want to major in liberal arts. </p>

<p>Also, I want to send some poetry that I've written with my application to show talent and intellectual abilities. Is this a good idea?</p>

<p>I know my grades a really low, but I'm way smarter than they let on. What do you all think my chances are?</p>

<p>You need to up your ACT. If you can do that, you have a decent chance. Pace does have students with your GPA, so it’s possible, especially if your essay or letters of reccomendation reflect what hardship has happened in your life the past four years.

they accept basically anyone.
even if your grades arent that great.
