Could I get into Penn State even if I get a C?

I’m a junior, and I really want to go to Penn State. My weighted gpa for freshman and sophomore year is a 3.66. I didn’t get any C’s those 2 years, but I’m scared that I’m going to end up getting a C in my AP Environmental Science class. My weighted gpa for junior year will probably be a 3.95 or 4.0 even with a C. Overall, my gpa would be around a 3.7. That’s around their average gpa, but would a C on my transceipt just ruin my chances? Also I haven’t taken the SAT yet but I think I will end up scoring a 1250. Thanks so much.

I was admitted with a merit scholarship after getting a C in Freshman year Semester 2 in both Latin and Alg 2 Honors. Admittedly, I got mostly As after that point, but it sounds like that’s how you’re doing as well. I wouldn’t worry about it.

Did you take the ACT? Maybe you’ll get higher on that. I’d try for a minimum 1300 on the SAT, depending on the major. If you get all A’s next year and a 1300, you should be fine.

your prob fine

My kid got in and he had a couple of C+'s early on.

@audreyparpp The issue isn’t the “C” … it is the overall GPA. Your weighted is 3.7 - what is your unweighted ? What is the rigor of your classes ? Do you have honors and AP classes ? Will you have the recommended Bio/Chem/Physics ?
