I try not to reply to “chance me!” posts because, from what I’ve seen, there’s so many variables that go into the admissions process that it’s difficult to say for sure…but since you’re a fellow IB graduate, I’ll make an exception. hehe.

I like your chances. Frankly, when I see the long (and varied) lists of ECs, I sometimes cringe and wonder, “What did you sacrifice to pad your resume like this?” However, I can see that you followed your passions, explored as far as you could into them, and can sense your genuine enthusiasm, rather than reluctant participation, for each area of interest. It also helps that you pursued soccer, music, and other ECs consistently for most of your HS career. Congratulations on that!
Do improve on your writing as much as you can. It will help you a great deal in the future. Oh, and work on polishing your essays!! I think if you can clearly show that you would make an excellent addition to the school (and get great recs), they’ll see what I can see and welcome you to class of 2014. Good luck!!
(especially on your IB exams and extended essay! Even if they don’t really count, we know how awesome it is to know that the past years of grueling hard work has paid off, yeah?)

the fact that you go to a school outside of the US can actually be quite beneficial to you in that you’re different!(:

i will be attending pomona college this fall, and from what i’ve seen and done, i have to say that your weakest factor is your SAT scores. around 75% (quite the majority) of the freshmen at pomona have SAT scores in the 700-800 range for all three math, CR, and writing sections. I STRONGLY recommend that you try to achieve at LEAST a 700 in all three sections. study hard during the summer!!
i wouldnt be able to judge you on your given unweighted GPA because admission directors almost always look at your weighted GPA, also. yes it’s nice, that you nearly got all A’s, but they want to see how many difficult and rigorous courses (weighted courses) you took. So make sure you weighted GPA is also high, not only your unweighted GPA.

goodluck!!

if i can apply to only one claremont college, Pomona or Claremont Mckenna, which one should i apply to? Which one would i have a more realistic chance of getting into?

They’re both difficult to get into. Choose the one which fits your personality more.
