my gpa is 4.5/5 point scale
i have some volunteer hours and extracurricular (including 3 years in tennis and 1 in cross country)
I live in the state

Also, do you know what the environment is like? What are the parties like? School spirit?
I am in looove with the campus
Thanks!

What is your unweighted GPA? No one cares about weighted GPA. They want to see your unweighted GPA and then see which classes you took that were IB/AP. I think with a higher SAT score around 1700-1800 you will be solid. Your ECs are kind of weak. Just participating in sports doesn’t really prove anything. Did you get any awards or show long term commitment/passion?

Next, SMU is very spirited as I think anyone who has gone there will tell you. Very vibrant party scene. One of my relatives went there and loved it. It isn’t for everyone, but if you like Greek Life you will enjoy yourself.

Also, just from reading what you have written it is important to identify why you want to go to this school more than just oh, it has good parties and I like the look of the campus. Make sure in your essays to clearly, with examples, state reasons both academic and extracurricular that draw you to SMU specifically. Do not say vague and general ideas that can be found anywhere. Do some research and impress the admissions officer with your effort. With an essay of quality and an SAT score of 1700+ you will have a good chance.

My unweighted is 3.0 and weighted is 3.3. All my classes have been IB for the past two years (minus this year which I also have an AP)
I will retake my SAT in December and I’ll try my hardest to get that score
Thank you!
