I will major in either Classics, Comparative Literature, or English.
Reccomendation should be great.
Could I submit more than one rec? Or does RU prefer a guidance counselor rec over a teacher rec, or vice versa?

Any advice would be helpful :]

Thank you.

Advice, anyone?

kinda hard to say. i THINK the first thing they look at is ur SAT and GPA.

unless they changed it, the honors program will only look at ur reading + writing… which is failr weak. I don’t think 1310 would cut it. Your gpa is a little iffy. I think they look at class rank more. BUT if ur school is pretty small than they omit that in their decision and just take u as top 10% or w/e.

Since your gpa and SAT isnt really quite up to par, they would look at a few things including:

your essay! this is high priority.

AP classes and scores?

extracurriculurs

i dont know what to say. it’s a maybe.

this is all from my head, my opinion, my experience as someone in the honors program.

and good job on

“AP English Language & Composition - 5”

yeahh …u DO NOT want to take expos 101. @.@

Thanks wabbitro. I’m going to try and apply anyway… writing is where my strength is at, so hopefully that will be reflected in my rec and my essay. And I’ll try to apply early cuz I heard people don’t get into the honors program simply because spots just fill up. I hope I get in!

why do you want to get into honors program?

and they mail you honors program admissions in the spring i think…or was that scholarships… hmmm

and something that’s been a little strange for me. I’ve talked to other honors program students and they APPLIED to the honors program (essays, application, teacher RECs) whereas I and a few of my friends didn’t. We just got in.

and something to keep in mind. even if you don’t get in the honors program but decide to attend Rutgers, you can apply to the honors program while in Rutgers.

EDIT: Undergraduate Admissions Forms;

try that link since you don’t meet the SAT standards. It’s the ‘application’ i was talking about earlier. click on the bottom link i think.

good luck! if you have any more questions you can email me at wabbitro@gmail.com

I think you have a high chance. I got my letter for the honors program a couple weeks ago. my stats were lower than yours.
GPA weighted: 4.3 or unweighted 3.5
SAT: 2080
and you definately have alot more awards and extracurricular activities than me.
You will probably get in.
Hope this helps

kjlol. what was your math + reading. if 1350 or higher it should be automatic admittance.

the math and reading was 1370.
wow that was close. I didnt know it was 1350.
