Could I get into the University of Florida?

I'm a senior high school student in Florida, and really want to go to UF.

Here are my statistics, anyone think I have a chance? Any opinions, recommendations, or advice would be great.

White male, 17 years old, Canadian citizenship, Florida resident.

GPA: 3.9 unweighted, 4.3 weighted
5 AP Classes, 11 Honors Classes

SAT: 1250 composite, 1920 total
ACT: 28
*Note: I am taking ACT again this weekend, and SAT next month. I have been taking practice tests and am expecting around a 1320 and a 30 this time.

ECs: Mu Alpha Theta, NHS, School Newspaper, Student Council, Cross-country, Track and Field, Interact, French Club, Spanish Club, Spanish Honors Society (pending), Extended French Program (2 years), and the school fashion show =).

Community Service: 150+ hours, mostly at a hospital

Speaks fluent French (+ learning Spanish), 11 years of Piano/Music study.

Essay: Spent a lot of time on it...

Letters: Pending, from guidance counselor, 2 math teachers, spanish teacher, and history teacher.

Applied in July, two weeks after application was available.

Again, anything you can tell me would be great.

You're a shoe in if you applied ED. It's a very good bet if you applied RD.

No one is a shoe in at UF these days. Medwell has a very good chance and an even better one if he improves his SAT or ACT.

As a Florida resident who has many friends at UF, I will tell you that it seems like that school only cares about class rank and SAT- the rest is ancillary. If that GPA is putting you well in the top 10% of your class, and your verbal and math scores are within the middle 50%, then you have a very good shot.

I, however, got rejected from UF even though I was ranked 70/800+ with a 650V 620M. It may have been because I sent my application on the day of the deadline, though. In any case, UF is not that great of school, and I have firsthand information to corroborate that.

As a fourth-year at New College of Florida, I highly recommend checking out small liberal arts colleges. They provide stellar educations and adequate preparation for graduate school. New College, in particular, provides all of this at a bargain price, especially for Florida residents.
