Well, I’m currently a sophomore in high school and I’ve been considering different colleges but I’m sure that I want to go to one of the UC’s or somewhere in cali.

Here’s some background info:

Currently I have an almost perfect GPA. I’m ranked 10 out of 478. I’m in all honors and AP classes possible for my year. By the time I graduate, I will have taken 10 AP classes. I played volleyball my freshman year and I played badminton. I dont play vball anymore but I still play badminton. I might be on varsity this year. I was elected secretary of the freshman class (student council). I’m currently in the Political Action Club and the math team at my school. (And I’m going to regionals for math team next Saturday, hopefully I’ll qualify for state!!)

Is this good enough to get into Davis, USC, Berkeley?? Is there any other school I should consider?

any comments or advice will be helpful. thanks.

Sounds like you've got yourself a good shot of getting into almost any UC at this point. The key is to dominate on the SAT and SAT IIs, and you should be in good shape for Cal/LA/SD/Davis.

Keep up the GPA, and just about any SAT will be fine! A 1750 to compliment your GPA would probably be enough.. but it sounds like you're quite bright and would probably be able to do much better. Good luck and keep up the hard work.

Whoa oop you have it wrong, yeah cal poly has an amazing engineering/ architecture/agriculture, and math/science but doesnt mean its better than uc davis. It all depends on the student. UC's are more well known for there in theory calculations, in the book research type of study where as cal state is hands on. Cal poly is ideally the better choice to go for engineering if you plan on going straight for your career. Cal poly allows to set there students up for the workforce right out of college, where if you plan on getting you graduate studies, you would want to go to a UC.

Oop-- considering this poster hasn't specified their interests, I don't think it's fair to direct them to a school that's good at Science/Engineering. That being said, UC Davis has a very broad selection of majors, and many of our programs are ranked as the top in the nation.

I've heard similar things about Cal Poly SLO-- it's a good school, but it's more of an "industry" school vs [any] UC is a "research" school.

I guess you guys are both right, good job being civil fooshy. Its all dependant on what your interested in studying, and if you are looking to go to grad school.
