Could I get into West Chester University?

I was wondering if I had a chance of getting into West Chester University. I have an unweighted GPA of 3.7 and a weighted cumulative GPA of 3.85. Freshman and sophomore year I took all accelerated classes and one honors class. I got all As and Bs and an occasional C. As a junior, I am taking accelerated band, honors German, and academic in everything else. I Have all As and Bs. I am in Symphonic Band, Marching Band, Music Honor Society, German Honor Society, and Varsity Swimming for 3 years, and I plan to do everything for a fourth year except German Honor Society. I am also in Italian Club. I didn`t do that well on the SAT, but I plan to take the ACT and SAT again.I got a 520 on reading, 460 on math, and 450 in writing. I would like to major in nursing. I am also involved with the German exchange group. Will I get in?

Please help!!!

Your SATs are a little low, but your gpa is higher than their average of 3.5. Nursing is one of their more competitive majors. I am assuming to you are resident of Pennsylvania. You might also want to consider looking into Bloomsburg, IUP, and York. They have nursing programs that might be a little less competitive than West Chester. Also, try taking the ACT and SAT again. Best of luck to you!!

Are my extracurricular activities, courses, and grades good enough though? @BlueHen98

Do you think I could still get in? Or would they reject me because of my SAT scores?

Lots of my kids’ friends attend WCU. Many of them had lower stats than yours. However, I don’t think they were applying to the nursing program. If you were applying for another major, I would venture to say you would be admitted. However, nursing is more competitive. Are you a junior or senior?

If you are a junior, you still have time to raise your SAT score. According to their nursing web site, this is what they are looking for;

“Specifically, you should have
four units of English, three units of social studies, two
units of mathematics (one of which must be algebra),
and two units of science with a related laboratory or the
equivalent. A combined score of at least 1100 is recommended
on the SAT.”

I think your best game plan is to try to increase your SAT score (assuming you are a junior). It is very difficult to transfer into nursing programs. Obviously, I don’t know if you will be admitted or not. I would suggest that you apply to other schools just in case. Best of luck to you!!

Thank you for your help! And I am a junior.
