<p>I am considering coming to UCF for the PhD program....</p>

<p>So I started doing some research on the apartments near town. Not only can I not find an apartment within convenient walking distance (less than a mile) for the school, I keep seeing "my car was stolen", "my door was kicked down", "I do not walk to my car alone", "my motorcycle was stolen 3 times"..... crap in every single apartment complexes reviews. Even the damn 1000$ a month 1bed/1bath places 4 miles from campus w/ double security gates w/ guards....</p>

<p>What is the deal... Exaggeration? </p>

<p>BTW, who is committing the crimes? College students, or the bums/'ghetto types' from the city? </p>

<p>If I decide to come here, should I buy a teaser or something...</p>

<p>I am going to try and get a 2bed/2bath out in that Oviedo area or w/e it's called w/ one of the graduate students. Place with security system, and security guard. Should I get one with a garage (I have a Chevy corvette Z06 ~80k new... a car the black community seem to really like =(..) I can easily keep it from getting stolen, but keeping it from getting keyed or the windows smashed by some jealous frat boy or thug 50 cent wannabe. </p>

<p>I posted a response to your other thread but decided to delete it after reading this one. It was the comment about the black community liking your car that put me over the edge. I’m not black, but I can’t take someone who would say that seriously. Good luck getting honest advice from someone who cares to give it to you… hope they’re not offended by your blatant racism.</p>

<p>Honestly, bad things happen everywhere, so don’t let them ruin your college experience. If you have insurance, you should be fine…and I’m guessing that you do (or your parents do) considering you have such an expensive car…and I’ll have to agree; I’m white, and plenty of white people could just as easily mess you/your car up…or, just get a cheapo car that no one would WANT to do anything else to.</p>

<p>First off, apartmentratings.com is where people go to vent about extremes. That’s why you only see very positive or–more commonly–very negative reviews about the complexes. Just look at the reviews for apartments for any college town, you’ll find all of the same type of reviews. Anyone with internet can write those, and not all of them may be true.</p>

<p>Moreover, Orlando city proper is huge. Can you pinpoint the EXACT areas of high crime in the city? No, because you’re making absurd generalizations. The “bad areas” are centered around west of downtown (including the Pine Hills area, which is technically part of Orlando), and some areas around OBT. There are a few other spotty areas, but that’s not the point. East Orlando is NOT considered a “bad area”. You went to FSU, right? The area north of campus there is pretty bad. Every college town has its bad areas.</p>

<p>Also your racism is disgusting, considering you seem to blame all of the crime on black people. Crime statistics are not always accurate due to many unreported and misreported crimes, and crimes can be committed by ANYONE of any race.</p>

<p>I don’t know if you’re serious or ■■■■■■■■, but the BS you spout is just plain dumb.</p>
