With these stats, could I also possibly go to UPenn Wharton or any top ivies?
I have the exact same GPA as you and I am aiming for NYU Stern as well. For Stern, it seems like you have a pretty good shot, which can definitely be influenced by teacher recs and your essays.
As for UPenn Wharton, that will be a far reach (as it will be for everyone). Since Wharton is the best business school, according to US News, your standardized testing needs to be higher, as a 34 on the ACT is UPenn’s 75th percentile. I can’t say anything about the GPA because I have the same and my thoughts will be subjective. For ECs, they’re good, but need more business orientation.
Thanks for the reassurance, buddy! Good luck to you!
How is your CR/Math score? On average Stern applicants have a 1430-1460/1600. GPA is a bit lower but overall it looks like you have a good shot at Stern.
From what I know about NYU Stern, I’d say you have a very good chance of getting in.
You have a solid shot, but might I suggest retaking the Math 2 subject test? If you want to major in finance, it might look a little bad on your app if you don’t have an 800 in Math 2.
You should retake the sat, a higher scorrate wouldn’t hurt. That’s what i’m doing this october.
@OMAR786 if I retook my SAT and got above a 2200 would you say I’d be able to get into Stern?
*Edit: I spelt Stern wrong lol
Well I can’t really say because I don’t know much about the competition at Stern, but I would say that a 2200 or above immediately gives you a much higher chance of admission into most schools
I’ll try and focus on my math score in the SATs because that’s what Stern will be looking for in particular
I think you have a great shot at getting into Stern.
As for Wharton, that might be difficult. You’re going to have your geniuses that have founded your nonprofits or gone to international business/math competitions, of whom almost all will be admitted. Then you have the students with good scores and grades but certainly nothing godly standing out on our resume. In our case, it’s a lottery getting into these schools.
You definitely have everything you need to get your foot into the door for Wharton, although I would consider budging the ACT or SAT scores up just a bit. Your leg-up is going to be in the essay. Something unique and personal with a business flavor to it.
I’ll be leaving for Wharton in about two weeks, so if you do have any questions specifically about Penn, don’t hestitate to message me. Good luck, bro!
