Is there any possible way I could get CAPed or even offered the PACE program at UT? Also would A&M accept me? I am currently a junior in HS wanting to go pre med or into nursing:

GPA: 3.9 on a 5.0 scale
Rank: 223 out of 650
In all PreAP, AP, and Honors classes
200+ community service hours @ hospital
Varsity orchestra for six years
Orchestra officer
Job at Grimaldi's year round (moved to pappadeux because it is a better company)
Shadow program at hospital
National Spanish honor society
HOSA
Baseball hostess
-first generation grad student
-Brazilian nationality (probably irrelevant in application process)

SAT: 1450, but going to get it to a 2000 (been studying)
AP English test score: 3

Also can someone give me a list of well known, fantastic colleges I could get into?

Utd and uh
No to texas a&m and ut austin
Your rank is way too low.
If your sat can get up to 1600+ then you can get capped at ut austin. If not you will be full out rejected by ut and texas a&m
Sorry but to be brutally honest you will not get into either unless that sat is 1900+ just saying

Ut Arlington but for the top schools ut austin and texas a&m NOPE.
Even ut Dallas is a high reach that rank is just too low 34%. Sorry man. If you get rejected from both go to community college and then transfer to ut austin.

I didn’t push my self during high school and graduated with a 3.3 GPA, at the time I didn’t even bother to apply to any university and went straight to community college. After a year at CC I transferred to UT. So nothing is impossible. You won’t get to UT as a freshman, blame yourself, but you always have a second chance. As long as you can maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher in your freshman year at college, you will get into UT.

It would have to be a Nobel prize or Pulitzer to get in you in honestly. But if you can make them overlook your bad stats based on horrible experience then maybe. If you can prove why they should overlook those horrible stats and let you in then you’re golden

How about one of the branch schools? UTSA?

UTSA is great, a large research university and with lots of support for kids like you who are just starting to bloom academically now. There are dorms and football and you can have a classic college experience. Go there and do well. You could transfer to UT. Or you may decide you like it at UTSA and stay to graduate. The school places its students in top graduate and professional programs every year.

Unfortunately with those stats no reputable university will accept you.
Utsa or ut-Arlington is your next choice transfer to ut after a year
Maybe you will be capped at ut which is the best thing that can happen to you

If he increases his SAT score, I’m sure TAMU can make the case for this student, given that he’s a first-generation college student.
I have seen people with similar SAT, class percentile, “hooks,” and ECs make it into TAMU; however, they had higher GPAs.

Hello, I just had a question about admission into Texas A&M. I know that if your a resident and are in top 25% (or was it top 10%) in your class and have a combined SAT CR and M score of 1300 it is automatic admission. So does that mean students who aren’t in the top 25% won’t be accepted. Because, I am in top 29% in my class but i have 2050 SAT score. Would it be a waste to apply, most are telling me if you aren’t in top 25% you won’t make it regardless of your SAT score.

25% you auto admission only Texas a&m has that. You can still be accepted if your out if 25% just a little harder is all. I think uou can get into texas a&m even ut also that sat is high and really helps you @plmoknij
Apply to both just write good essays

My female friend who was a first generation college student
Mexican family of 7 with better rank and same scores a little higher 1540 and wrote a tearfully essay about how her father raped her for 7 years still got rejected .
So i believe he will too unfortunately

Wow. Did she not get Gateway at all? Had I seen your friend’s stats, ECs, hooks, and essays, I’d have bet on her getting Gateway at least.

No blind for two years then she can automatic transfer after one year or two depends on gpa. Good thing about blinn is that it’s right next to texas a&m and if you get priority housing you can live on campus at texas a&m

Very nice.
On the topic of strange TAMU acceptances…
I know at least three people who, by this board’s standards, should have been rejected from the university.
All of them were in the top quintile and had GPAs over 3.8. However, they didn’t have outstanding test scores: two were 1600s, and one was just below a 1400. Even so, TAMU accepted all of them and offered them nearly full rides. The high scorers were Hispanic, first-gen college varsity athletes, and the lowest scorer was just hispanic and first-gen.
On the other hand, a story appeared here on CC just over a year ago. Applicant’s rank was just outside the top quartile, GPA of 3.3, but he scored a 34 on the ACT and almost had enough credits for an Associate’s in Computer Science at his local community college. Not good enough for TAMU, so he went to Cornell instead.
