Could I qualify for TAG if I dropped out of my CSU and went to a CCC for a year?

I want to transfer to UCSB. I have been at my CSU for fall semester and am attending it for this spring semester but will be dropping out to go to my nearest CSU for summer, fall, and spring. Will I qualify for TAG? My GPA right now is a 3.4.

I spent my freshman year at a CSU, switched to a CCC sophomore year and I qualified for TAG with Davis, so it’s not impossible.

The only UC that does not allow “mixed records” is Irvine. The other campuses typically will allow TAG provided that you meet the campus-specified restrictions. See http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/counselors/files/CC11_TAGMatrix_final.pdf</a>, page 2 for the restrictions.

That page says:
Only students transferring directly from a California Community College are considered for a TAG, including international students (those with a visa). The University of California defines a CCC transfer student as one who has completed over half of their units at a CCC. All UC TAG campuses require students to meet this definition.

I have been going to a CSU for a semester and am at a CSU this semester. I would like to apply for TAG this September. Can I still apply for TAG this September if I do not have over half of my units at a CCC at that time? I just started my semester at a CSU today so I could drop some classes so I would only have 12 units this semester. I took 14 units last semester. Also, I’m taking 8 units in the summer at a CCC and will continue to go there for until I transfer. So do I have to have to have more units at a CCC at the time I apply? Or just by the time I transfer?

Also, do only the transferrable courses count towards TAG? Because I took some classes that probably wont transfer last semester.

Yes, only UC-transferable courses count

It’s by the time you transfer. I only completed 4 units at CCC level when I applied.

Ok thanks. That really helps.

You’ll have to report all of your “in progress” and “planned” CCC courses for the TAG application and the TAG approval would be based on those.
