I was rejected (not deferred) by my top-choice school after applying early decision. Only days before receiving the notice, I retook both the ACT and SAT, receiving considerably higher scores (going from 31 to 33 on ACT and 1380 to 1460 on SAT). I know rejection means that I will not be considered in the regular decision pool, but would it be acceptable if I were to send an e-mail to the admissions office requesting that my application be reviewed in light of the new scores? On a similar note, I applied early action to my second choice school and I receive the decision in mid-January, should I even bother submitting my new scores?
- there is no point in asking your ED school to review your application after a rejection. The decision is final. Even if you got perfect scores it is very unlikely they would reconsider.
- Yes, you should send in your new scores to your EA school. It may make a difference.
Submit your new scores to the EA school immediately and make sure your AO knows you’ve updated your file.
As for the ED school, it’s water over the dam. When you choose to apply ED, you are agreeing to be evaluated on the basis of your stats at that time. (One of the reasons students opt for RD over ED is to improve their grades in the first half of their senior year.)
I agree to move on from the ED school and send the new scores using rush service to the EA school as they could help your case.
