I wasn't planning on applying to Washington University, but the more I read about it, the more I think I would like it with its intellectual yet pre-professional atmosphere, and its outstanding programs in public health, biology, and political science. I really want to apply, but I know they consider interest, and I can't justify making the trip to visit unless I get in. Would I still have a decent chance if I applied now, Regular Decision? Also, are there any ways I can demonstrate my interest besides visiting?
Here are my stats:
I go to a large, public school and rank somewhere in the top 3%.
Cumulative Unweighted GPA: 3.95
I have only taken 2 AP classes (European History & AP English Language & Composition) as the school I attended in 9th & 10th grade did not offer honors or AP classes, but I am taking 6 more this year (AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Statistics, AP Environmental Science, AP English Literature & Composition, AP US History).
I have also taken 3 college courses (one at UW Madison, one at a local community/technical college and another at American University) and I am taking another this year at UW-Madison under my school district's dual-enrollment program.
US History SAT II: 800; Literature SAT II: 740
AP US History (4) (Self-studied, taken in 9th grade), AP European History (5), AP English Language & Composition (5)
ACT: 35 (English, 35; Math, 32; Reading 36; Science 35)
SAT: 2270 (Critical Reading: 800; Math: 750; Writing: 720)
I have good, but not outstanding extracurriculars except for my independent research of history and volunteering with a political campaign. I also have about 600 volunteer hours.

Speaking As someone who was admitted ED to WUSTL last week, apply. Even though they are hardcore interest trackers, if you can visit just for a day to do a tour and interview, that will make them feel like they are not your safety to ivies etc. everything i love about WUSTL seems to be the same for you and since there are no essays, there should be no limiting factors as to why you should not apply. Also, I got in with slightly lesser grades, scores and almost no volunteer hours (due to heavy involvement in one ec), proving that they value the entire applicant over just stats. If you apply, hope to see you there in class of 2019. DM if you have any other questions.

@2015ct11: Thanks so much for the advice!
Do you think it would help if I emailed admissions and asked if a WUSTL representative is coming to my city in the near future?

Apply. My son had similar stats to you and was admitted regular decision without visiting or attending an info session at his school, since it was a last minute decision to apply. He didn’t visit until he was admitted, at which point he fell in love with the school and decided to attend. I would send the email asking about the rep.

definitely email and if they say yes, attend.

Yes, of course you can apply. Be sure to apply by Jan. 15th. Also, apply to any scholarship that appeals to you too. You can show interest other ways other than visiting such as attending a local information session. You can always visit later if you get accepted. That’s what my D did. Good luck.

Yes, by all means apply, but do you already have an acceptance letter or a safety?

@Catria: Yes, I got into Georgetown last week.
@newjersey17 Thanks for the advice!

Congrats
