Could I still be accepted?

Northwestern has always been my number one choice in schools and I've always known that I want to study journalism. I'm in the top seven percent of my class and have a 4.06 for my sophomore and junior years combined. But unfortunately, my tests scores are way below the middle 50 percentile. I'm sending the ACT and got a 25 on it. I've written for three well-known newspapers in my area, received rewards for volunteering, etc. Also, one of my teachers who is an alumni agreed to write me a letter of recommendation. If I'm applying for their Medill school of journalism could I still be accepted? I would hope that demonstrating a clear interest in journalism is what matters, but test scores are so important too. I'm also applying early decision if that matters.

WHY are you sending the 25?

Take it in September. Are you in-state? If so, IL is one of the 19 states to offer it in Sept.

ACT Registration : 2008 - 2009 test dates

There are the dates. If for some reason you can't do it in Sept, do it in October. Either way, your scores will be accepted for ED.

It'd be better to take it in September though as you could see your score and decide from there if you want to go with ED 1 or ED 2 (idk if NW offers ED 2, but I'm assuming it does).

Do not send that 25.

I'm planning on retaking it and am being tutored over the summer for the ACT but I don't know how much it will improve. And I live in California.

Awesome. You can take it in September then.

I went from a 26 to a 30. It's possible, dude. If you have AIM, IM me and I'll tell you what I did. Idk if it'll help, but we were in a similar situation.

PM me.
